FALL INTERNET WORLD ISRAEL PAVILION FEATURES CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGIES FROM GROWING GLOBAL POWERHOUSE
(WESTPORT, CT--December 5, 1997)--Mecklermedia's (Nasdaq: MECK) fifth annual Fall Internet World '97 event, being held December 8-12, 1997 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, features the Israel Pavilion, showcasing 15 Israeli companies and their innovative Internet applications.
"Israeli companies have been major innovators of Internet solutions since the beginning of the World Wide Web," said Alan M. Meckler, chairman and CEO of Mecklermedia. "This pavilion will highlight the contributions that Israel has made to this global phenomenon and show all attendees what the future of the Internet will become."
Fifteen percent of all Internet technologies are Israeli-born and with more engineers per capita than any country, Israel has been called "a world Internet superpower" by the Associated Press. Video streaming and Internet telephony, two of the hottest Internet applications at present, were developed, respectively, by VDONet and VocalTec, two Israeli-based companies.
To supplement the Israel Pavilion and provide background into the Israeli economic landscape, The Government of Israel Economic Mission is holding a press conference on Wednesday, December 10, 1997 at 3:45 p.m., room 1C03 in the Javits Center. Scheduled speakers/presenters include Alan M. Meckler, David Rubin (Economic Minister for Israel), John Scully (CEO, Live Picture), Shlomo Kramer (founder, Checkpoint), Eilon Ganor (CEO, VocalTec), Eyal Gever (CEO, Zapa Digital), and Dr. Craig Grossman (president and chief scientist, Virtue). Zapa Digital and Virtue will show sample demonstrations of their products being introduced at this year's Fall Internet World.

The Israel Pavilion is sponsored by the Israel Export Institute (IEI) in Tel Aviv and the Israel Economic Mission in New York. The IEI is a non-profit organization created by the export community and the government to expand and promote Israel's overseas commerce. The Government of Israel Economic Mission with headquarters in New York City, has regional offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, Santa Clara, Boston, Atlanta, Montreal and Toronto. Its role is to assist in developing and expanding trade and investment between Israel, the United States and Canada.
