INTERNET.COM CONTINUES REGIONAL EXPANSION WITH LAUNCH OF SEATTLE.INTERNET.COM
(NEW YORK, NY-May 16, 2000)--internet.com (Nasdaq: INTM), the Internet Industry Portal, today launched a new bureau to cover the thriving Internet market and community in the greater Seattle area. The site is available at seattle.internet.com (http://seattle.internet.com). The site launch is sponsored by SmartAge.com (http://www.smartage.com).
"seattle.internet.com marks our fifth regional site and we're certain it will continue the tremendous success we've experienced by integrating our Internet news properties throughout selective regions of the U.S.," said internet.com chairman and CEO Alan M. Meckler. "Seattle is yet another hotbed of Internet activity and we're thrilled that internet.com will now be an integral player as the area's first in-depth, online publication exclusively focused on the local Internet industry."
The site will be under the direction of managing editor Barry Elad who has covered a variety of media industries including radio over the past seven years. He most recently was the publisher of an online monthly newsletter covering the Seattle area hi-tech scene. Elad has also had the opportunity to gain an inside view of the Internet industry, as well as international experience, while serving as a senior content editor for an overseas Internet start-up.
"We are very excited about launching seattle.internet.com," said Elad. "We're confident that the site will not only be popular amongst local Internet professionals, but will also attract a worldwide audience that is interested in tuning into the latest trends".
The availability of internet.com's regional Internet news content in Seattle is the latest in a series of regional expansion initiatives including recent launches in Silicon Valley (http://siliconvalley.internet.com), Boston (http://boston.internet.com), Washington D.C. (http://dc.internet.com) and internet.com's pre-existing atNewYork.com site (http://atnewyork.com) serving the Internet scene in New York's Silicon Alley. internet.com also announced plans to roll out several other bureaus in coming months.
